Meaning – Jireh's Christian Bookstore gets its name from Jehovah-Jireh, one of God's names found in the Bible, which means "the Lord will provide". That name first appears in Genesis 22 and it is a name given by Abraham in praise to God for providing a sacrifice in place of his son Isaac. That true story is a picture of what God had planned for us through the work of His only Son Jesus Christ. While we were sinners Christ died for us. We cannot get to heaven without His payment of our sin which cost the greatest price…death on the cross.
That is the greatest way the Lord provides for us. If you want to receive that provision it's the greatest gift you can find at Jireh's and the best part is its free! You don't even have to come in to the store to receive it. All you have to do is believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you will be saved. We are all on different roads and journeys in life but to get to God there is only one way and that's through Jesus Christ.
If you know Him, live for Him. He came to give us life and to give it abundantly. Enjoy the new life He has given you! If you are struggling with anything great or small right now Jesus says not to worry. Look to the birds of the air and the flowers of the field. The birds always find food and the flowers are dressed more beautifully than King Solomon in all of his riches and splendor. God, the Heavenly Father, provides for them but you are His child and you mean much more to Him than birds and flowers. Do you believe that? Tell Him. He is your Provider and He wants to hear that from you. Call out to Jehovah-Jireh.
History – Jireh's Christian Bookstore was opened in June 2004 by family members and business partners Bryan Gutierrez and Daniel and Barbara Gutierrez.
The idea originated with Bryan when he was just a kid hanging out in Placerville's Windborn Christian Bookstore. The idea all along was for a full service coffee shop within the bookstore giving it a comfortable atmosphere for browsing and a location for Bible studies and meetings.
The first location on Broadway did have a coffee shop (Jireh's Java) but Jireh's moved in 2007 to Missouri Flat Rd. The new location was right next store to an existing coffee shop. br> Having two businesses in one made both lack in certain aspects so the owners decided to drop the "Java" for the time being and focus on the bookstore. Starting and establishing a new business in this existing economic climate has been very difficult. At Jireh's opening Bryan was a recent college graduate and neither he nor Daniel or Barbara had any experience in retail. We started the business, and have continued the same way, by taking one small step at a time in faith while following the Lord's lead and constantly remembering "the Lord will provide" for us.
Thank you for your support of Jireh's. If you have never been we look forward to seeing you soon! We know you have many shopping options and some even from the convenience of your own home. However, we hope you see the value of having a store like ours in this community and if you do we ask you to always make us your first choice. We don't expect your business but we earn it through the quality of product, competitive pricing options, knowledgeable staff, excellence of service, and ease of special ordering (usually with free shipping and next day delivery). Your support also keeps tax dollars local and provides jobs for our community.
