The name "Jireh" first appears in Gen. 22:8 which says "Abraham said, 'God will provide (Jehovah-God:Jireh-Provider) for himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.' So they went both of them together."(ESV) This is a picture of God's greatest provision. It is found in John 3:16 which says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."(ESV)
